SPECIALTY CARE / DRY EYE & OCULAR SURFACE

Dry eye treatment in Mississauga.

Burning, gritty or irritated eyes? At eyecademy, Dr. Stephanie Ramdass provides individualized dry eye assessments and treatment planning, including JETT Plasma Eye treatment for appropriate patients.

UNDERSTANDING DRY EYE

More than just feeling dry.

Dry eye disease can affect comfort and vision throughout the day. Some people notice persistent dryness; others have symptoms that come and go.

  • Burning, stinging or a gritty sensation
  • Redness, irritation or sensitivity to light
  • Fluctuating or blurry vision, especially during screen use
  • Watery eyes, contact lens discomfort or tired-feeling eyes

Symptoms can have more than one cause. A proper assessment helps identify whether the tear film, eyelids or ocular surface may be contributing.

Severe eye pain, sudden vision loss or a sudden major change in vision requires urgent assessment rather than a routine appointment.

DRY EYE ASSESSMENT

Understand the cause before choosing treatment.

Dr. Ramdass starts with your symptoms, ocular history, medications, contact lens experience and previous treatments. The examination may include assessment of the eyelids, tear film, cornea and other ocular surface findings.

Dry eye may be associated with inadequate tear production, increased tear evaporation, meibomian gland dysfunction or other ocular surface conditions. Your clinical findings guide the next steps, rather than assuming the same treatment will work for everyone.

Bring a list of eye drops and medications you currently use, along with details of any previous treatments.

PERSONALIZED TREATMENT

A plan for your eyes.

Depending on the diagnosis and severity of your symptoms, your plan may include eyelid care, appropriate lubricating drops, changes to daily routines, other clinician-recommended therapies and follow-up visits.

For patients with more complex ocular surface needs, Dr. Ramdass can also discuss specialty lens options or coordinated care when appropriate.

No single treatment is right for every patient. Recommendations follow an eye examination and discussion of expected benefits, limitations and risks.

NOW OFFERED AT EYECADEMY

JETT Plasma Eye treatment.

JETT Plasma Eye is one of the in-office treatment options currently offered at eyecademy as part of individualized dry eye care.

In plain language: JETT uses controlled plasma energy near the eyelids. It is considered only after an eye-care assessment, and results vary by patient.

Is JETT right for me?

Not everyone with dry eye is a candidate. Dr. Ramdass will assess your condition and explain whether this approach is appropriate, what a treatment course may involve, and what ongoing care may still be needed.

What should I expect?

Assessment comes first. If JETT is recommended, the clinic will explain the treatment process, possible temporary effects and follow-up instructions. Results vary, and improvement cannot be guaranteed.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Dry eye care, explained.

Do you offer JETT Plasma Eye treatment?

Yes. JETT Plasma Eye is currently offered at eyecademy. A clinical assessment is needed to decide whether it is appropriate for you.

My over-the-counter drops are not helping. Should I book?

Persistent symptoms despite using drops are a reason to discuss a dry eye assessment. Different causes may need different approaches.

Can dry eye affect my vision?

Yes. Changes in the tear film can cause fluctuating or blurry vision. New or sudden vision changes require timely assessment.

Will one JETT session fix my dry eye?

No particular outcome or number of sessions can be guaranteed. The clinician will explain whether a course of treatment is appropriate and what follow-up may be needed.

Can I book a dry eye consultation online?

Start on our appointment page. Online appointment categories depend on what is currently enabled in VisualBook. If you cannot find the right option, please call the clinic.

Do you see patients with complex ocular surface conditions?

Yes. Eyecademy offers specialized assessment of ocular surface concerns, and can discuss whether scleral lenses or an alternative referral pathway may be appropriate.
